My Supported Living – Registered NDIS Service Provider in Melbourne
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is Australia’s innovative disability support programme for people with disabilities. It provides funding to eligible participants, allowing them to use various support systems and improve their quality of life. This allows them to spend more time with family and friends, gain independence, learn new skills, find jobs, and even volunteer in their community. NDIS Eligibility Checklist – Who Can Apply?
There are a few criteria that must be met before an individual is considered eligible for the NDIS programme. Age, residency status, and the nature of your impairment or condition, as well as the impact it has on your daily functions, determine your eligibility. This is intended to determine whether the applicant has one or more permanent impairments that affect their daily lives as well as their social and economic participation. The three general criteria that an individual must meet are as follows:
- Age requirements – Is under 65 years at the time of application
- Residence requirements – Is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or special category visa holder residing in Australia, and residing in an area that has transitioned to NDIS during the transition period.
- Disability requirements – Meets the requirements for either permanent and significant disability or early intervention.
We understand that each person is unique with different needs. Therefore, our services are tailored to their specific requirements and expectations. You are not just another client to us; you are a unique individual with your own personality, interests, and goals. Our team will help you determine your eligibility and apply for NDIS support.
How Do You Apply for the NDIS?
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can go on and apply for the NDIS. There are three ways you can do this.
You can call the NDIS on 1800 800 110 and make an Access Request verbally
- You can fill out and email an Access Request to NAT@ndis.gov.au
- You can also contact the Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or NDIA office for help with Access Request
Irrespective of the method you choose, there are a few general questions and details you will need to provide.
- You will be asked to confirm your identity and answer a series of questions to determine whether you meet the NDIS access requirements
- You might also be asked for more information about your disability
- It is critical that you demonstrate how your disability affects your ability to perform daily tasks
- You will also need to provide evidence that you meet all the eligibility criteria
- Once your application has been approved, you will attend a meeting to discuss your needs and goals as an NDIS participant
- You will now have the option to select a service provider for the timely delivery of all support services

FAQs
The NDIS provides funding to eligible individuals with disabilities, based on their specific needs. Every NDIS participant has an individual plan that details their objectives as well as the funding they have received. NDIS participants spend their money on support and services that will help them achieve their goals.
The NDIS Act and its accompanying rules specify which supports will not be funded by it. The NDIS cannot fund the following types of assistance:
- Another government system’s or community service responsibility
- Support not associated with the participant’s disability
- Daily living expenses unrelated to a participant’s support needs
- Activities likely to cause harm to the participant or endanger others
It may take the NDIA several weeks to approve your plan, but they will usually contact you within two to four weeks.
Participants can now request plan terms of up to three (3) years. Long plan duration allows participants with support needs that are unlikely to change to go about their lives without having to go through frequent plan review processes.
The NDIS was created to help people with disabilities get the help they need. Because NDIS payments are only made for specific reasons, they are not considered income and have no bearing on Centre link’s income support payments. NDIS support payments are tax-free and do not count as income for Child Support Benefit purposes.
